How Much Does It Cost To Climb Mount Aconcagua?
Climbing Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America and the Southern Hemisphere, is almost the dictionary definition of a bucket list trip.
Heading halfway around the world to explore one of the world’s most formidable peaks is the adventure of a lifetime…
Which brings us to the all-important question – how much does it cost to climb Mount Aconcagua?
Well, as with anything in life, there are a few things to consider, which we’ll go through here…
How Much Are Flights To Mount Aconcagua?
The journey to Aconcagua begins with a flight to Mendoza, Argentina.
Your return flights from the UK will cost anything between £700 and £1,200, depending on how far in advance you book, when you travel, and whether you manage to snag a deal or not!
On most TBLC trips, including our 20-day Aconcagua Expedition, you do have the option to add on group flights from London airports through us, saving you a bit of money and the hassle of arranging your transportation.
How Much Is Accommodation In Argentina?
Accommodation in Argentina varies depending on the season, where you are, and the type of luxury you’re looking for…
In Mendoza, where our trip begins, you can pay as little as £30 or as much as £100 for a decent hotel (and more for anything a bit fancier!).
As you can imagine, finding appropriate accommodation for your entire trip when you’ve got almost 3 weeks of hotels, hostels, and campsites to arrange is easier said than done.
The good news is that along with the small group travel, guides, food and private transport (excluding flights), your accommodation is also sorted when you travel with TBLC.
Is Food Expensive In Argentina?
Argentina is known for its delicious cuisine, particularly its world-famous beef.
It’s also well known for being cheaper than the UK, which we’ll take as a win! Expect to pay somewhere between £10 to £15 per person for a meal at a mid-range restaurant.
We’ve been running trips to Argentina long enough to know where the best spots are and our local guides are even more adept at finding the best new spots…
And you also don’t need to worry about the cost of food or how much to budget when you travel with us on our Aconcagua Trek because all your meals are included!
That’s also excellent news for nutrition for your climb because we know that everyone’s well fed and adequately prepared for the trekking ahead.
And you really don’t want to miss out on some of the food we’ll be getting stuck into!
You’ll have the opportunity to sample local Argentinian dishes, including hearty stews, empanadas, and of course, the iconic asado (barbecue).
How Much Are Guides For A Mount Aconcagua Trip?
One of the first things you’ll probably do if you’ve booked or are thinking about booking a trek up a mountain is work out where the best guides are and how much they’ll cost.
Aconcagua is a significant challenge for even experienced climbers, which means guides are always advised – individual fees can be anything between £2,000 to £4,000 and more.
But it’s always cheaper to book a group guide, though these are often highly sought after.
With TBLC, expert guides are included in the package price. These guides are not only experienced mountaineers but also familiar with the specific challenges of Aconcagua.
Local Transport Near Mount Aconcagua
Getting to and around the Aconcagua area typically involves a combination of bus rides and possibly some off-road vehicles.
It’s not the easiest place to get to without a bit of organisation, as with any serious mountain!
Our Aconcagua Trek includes all your transportation from the moment you land in Mendoza to the trailhead and all the way back. It means you don’t need to worry about figuring out local transport systems or work out where to hire vehicles, which can be costly and time-consuming.

As with any trip abroad, there are a few extras to sort out, although you don’t need to worry about a visa as long as you’re not staying for more than 90 days.
You will need to bring your own clothing and boots ready for lots of hiking, have adequate travel insurance, and make sure you’ve got cash on hand for tips for guides, support staff and restaurant staff – plus any spending money!
Mount Aconcagua is a serious challenge and not for the faint hearted, but it’s a seriously rewarding and majestic trek.
If you don’t book it now… will you ever?!
