How Much Does It Cost To Visit Brazil?

Brazil is an iconic destination that sits atop a lot of people’s bucket lists for good reason.

And whether you’re after a trip to Rio de Janeiro, trekking in the Amazon rainforest or enjoying some of the most spectacular mountains and bodies of water in South America (and the world!), Brazil’s got something for everyone.

If you’re planning an adventure to Brazil, there might be one question that you’re looking for the answer to – and it’s one that we’re going to dive into.

How much does it cost to visit Brazil?

Of course, it depends on what you’re planning when you get there, how long you’re planning to be in Brazil for, when you’re going and a whole load of other things.

And the good news is that here at the Bucket List Company, we’ve got two pretty incredible trips to Brazil that each offer something slightly different (more on that later!).

How Much Are Flights To Brazil?

The cost of flights from the UK to Brazil can fluctuate significantly depending on the season, airline, and how far in advance you book.

As a rule, expect to pay somewhere between £500 and £800 for an economy return flight from London to any major Brazilian cities, including Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

If you’re travelling in peak seasons (Christmas holidays and during the Carnival tend to be the priciest times) then expect to pay a premium.

But if you know you’re going to be heading to Brazil, it’s one of those destinations where you’ll seriously benefit from being organised. The earlier you book your flights, the better – at least 3-4 months in advance and you’ll get the best deals.

The good news is that at TBLC, our trips are all organised years in advance, meaning that you’ve got plenty of time to arrange travel.

In fact, our next trips for both our Best of Brazil trip and our Amazon Cultural Adventure trip are next May, giving you plenty of time to get those flights booked!

How Much Is Local Transport In Brazil?

Once you’re in Brazil, local transport costs can vary depending on your chosen mode of travel.

As you’d expect, transport costs in major cities is usually cheaper. A single bus or metro ride will cost somewhere between £0.60-0.75 (R$4-5), although expect this to be higher in smaller cities and towns.

Internal travel around Brazil between towns, cities and destinations is usually done by bus, with intercity buses being a popular option. As a guide, a 6-hour bus journey across Brazil is likely to cost somewhere between £15-25, while taxis and ride-sharing options are as available in big cities as they are in the UK.

If you’re heading into more remote areas such as the Amazon or the Pantanal, both of which we head to on our Amazon Cultural Adventure trip, then direct transport is the more common option.

That might be coach, bus, boat or specialised vehicles depending on how remote it is!

That’s where joining a small group tour like we offer at TBLC can really pay dividends – not only do you benefit from the cost savings, you also don’t need to worry about planning local transport to and from all of your destinations!

Is Food Expensive In Brazil?

South American food comes with a stellar reputation – and with good reason.

Not only do you get to sample delicacies such as coxinha and pão de queijo, you can also do so for a pretty low cost…

A meal at a food stand or a quick-serve restaurant or café can cost as little as £2.50, while a mid-range restaurant ranges from £7.50-15 per person. All in all, it’s a relatively cheap country to eat in, which is great news for anyone that loves sampling local cuisine!

As ever, dining will be more expensive in tourist hotspots or in high-end restaurants, as is always the case when travelling. But the good news is that when you travel with the Bucket List Company, a lot of your meals are included in the tour price, meaning that you can simply enjoy experiencing local cuisine without worrying too much.

We’d advise you to make sure you’ve got money on hand for tips during meals but we can assure you that we’ve got some absolutely fantastic spots for food on both of our Brazilian trips…

How Much Do Guides In Brazil Cost?

Hiring a private guide for tours in Brazil can be a costly endeavour – costs range from £30-100 per day, depending on their expertise, how remote the location is, and how busy it is.

In specialised areas like the Amazon or for specific activities, costs can be even higher than that…

And if you’re heading out during busy seasons, securing reliable and top-quality guides is easier said than done.

With our small group trips, you don’t need to worry about that, though! All of our trips include experienced and knowledgeable guides throughout your journey, all covered in the overall tour cost. This not only saves you money but also ensures you’re getting high-quality, reliable guidance throughout your Brazilian adventure.

That means it’s both cost-effective and safe, allowing you to make the memories you’ve headed off on a bucket list trip for!
